Useful Information
If you'd like to get started and become a Womble, or you're just curious, we hope you'll find all the information you need here!
Equipment
We are keen to encourage, empower and equip anyone and everyone who wants to, to be able to Womble so, if not having a picker and/or a hoop is holding you back from Wombling then please let us know and we can loan you equipment.
Please note if you want your very own ‘picker-upper’ to keep, they can be purchased from Tony Almonds very reasonably or online. The hoops (to hold your bags open whilst you pick) can be purchased ‘on-line’ and come in a variety of types including ones made from recycled material.
Solo Litter Picks
We actively encourage solo litter picks - whether it be a simple 5 minute ‘outside your own house and neighbours’ or a longer walk and pick - every piece of litter collected is one less on the pavement or in the hedgerow. 'Paws on Plastic' encourage 2 minute litter picks whilst walking your dog (if you have one!)
Disposing of Litter
Small litter picks can be disposed of in your own recycle &/or grey bin but before you ‘bin it’ please post a photo to our Crosby Wombles Facebook group - it’s really helpful for us to keep a record of our productivity and contribution to our community and a great encouragement to others too.

If your going to litter pick regularly and it is going to be more than a few wrappers &/or discarded plastic bottles then please let Jacqui or Dawn know (DM us) and we will deliver some official Sefton Litter Sacks that can be left next to any public bin for the council to collect together with our official stickers to place on the filled sacks. All we ask in return is for you to post a photo, to our Facebook group or email it to crosbywombles@gmail.com, of your filled litter sack next to a Sefton roadside bin, complete with its location, so we can inform Sefton where to collect it from
Group Wombles
Group Wombles can be organised by anyone - if you have a particular area that you want to ‘litter pick’ tell us when and where you want to meet in a post and we will create an ‘event’ and then hopefully any available Wombles will come and join you.
