Monday 24th March

As part of The Great British Spring Clean & The Big School Clean Dawn & Jacqui enabled and equipped year 5 pupils at St Luke’s Halsall Primary School to litter pick down at Crosby Beach.

As part of their PSHE lessons they have been learning about caring for the environment and in particular the oceans and the animals who inhabit them.

We delivered a short lesson on why littering is damaging, not only to our local community but the wider world.

The children were amazed to discover that the sea doesn’t start at the beach but at eg ditches, canals and road side drains. Many hadn’t realised that rubbish thrown down a grid ends up in the sea and that it doesn’t get processed at a waste water facility.

The children were interested and keen to make a difference - not just during this lesson but in the future too. Some of them loaned our Mini-Womble back packs and mini litter picking equipment to carry out their own litter pick with their family 🐾

Well done to all 🐾
